While women are often overlooked when it comes to running, there have been a few who have made an impact in the sport. Rita Jeptoo was one of these women, winning the Boston and Chicago marathons back to back in 2013 and 2014. Her use of EPO later led to her being banned from competing for a period of four years. Chebet was succeeded by Agnes Jebet Tirop as a teenager.

Keira D'Amato

Keira D'Amato is a well-known female runner with an extraordinary story. Keira D'Amato, an elite athlete, has a hectic life. She also works in Real Estate as well as running. Keira set a new American marathon time record in 2017. She beat Deena Kasstor's mark of 24 seconds. Keira, only 37, is already a well-respected athlete. But she started as a hobby runner. Keira D’Amato graduated in Real Estate from American University. She had two children and competed at the 2020 U.S. Olympic Trials.

Paula Jane Radcliffe

Paula Jane Radcliff, a famous female runner, has won international recognition in long-distance running events. She is the winner of the 2002 Chicago Marathon, and has been a champion three times in the London Marathon and New York Marathon. She has also won several other events.

Helene de Pourtales

Helene de Pourtales, a famous female runner in the 1900 Olympics, was born and raised in New York. She was the child of a wealthy tobacco family. Isaac Barbey, her dad, started the tobacco empire. And Helene's mother, a Lolliarde from France, was his wife. Helene was a natural athlete and soon married Hermann Alexandre de Pourtales. He was a member the old Huguenot clan. The couple had three daughters. Helene was a descendant of her maternal grandmother, who inherited her passion for horses.


Allison Stokke

Allison Stokke (female runner, pole vaulter, and athlete) is well-known. She was born Newport Beach, California. She attended Newport Harbor High School before going on to the University of California. Stokke won many records in pole vaulting and other sports while at both schools. Stokke encourages others to eat healthy and is a strong advocate of healthy foods.

Tia-Clair Toomey

Famous female runner Tia-Claire Toomey has been one of the most successful athletes of the last year, and for good reason. She's the face of female fitness, and her results speak for themselves every time she competes. She won the 2022 NOBULL XFit Games. Toomey returned stronger after a tough start to the competition and led the contest until the end.

Allison Baver

Allison Baver, a former U.S. Olympian in competitive running, announced her retirement on Monday. She was an Olympian three times. Her first appearance as an alternate in the U.S. women’s 3000m relay team was in Salt Lake City in 2002. Allison also competed at the 2006 Torino Winter Games as an alternate for the U.S. women's 3000m relay team. She finished third in that event. Allison sustained a terrible injury in 2009 after she fell with a teammate and fractured her right leg and ankle. This occurred one year prior to her expected participation at the Vancouver Olympics in 2010.
