Cindy Parlow Cone- First Female President of US Soccer Federation

Cynthia Parlow Cone was a former player of soccer and a professional executive. She rose to the top of soccer. She is currently the president of United States Soccer Federation. She was also a twotime Olympic Gold medalist as well as the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup champ. She was also the first woman president of the United States Soccer Federation.

President of U.S. Soccer

Cindy Parlow Cone was reelected as president of the U.S. Soccer Federation for another four-year term. Her main focus will be the collective contracting process and a Sally Q. Yates Report on allegations of sexual abuse in women’s sports soccer. She will also continue to fight for equal pay and fair treatment for female players. She will also continue to push for equal pay for female players.

USSF is in a weak financial position. Parlow cone has had to cope with a flood of lawsuits. The recent equal pay agreement has restored public trust in US Soccer, and allowed it to present a united front to commercial partners. However, as the president of US Soccer, Cone still has a lot of work ahead of her.

Cindy Parlow Cone was a former player and is currently the assistant coach of University of North Carolina's women's soccer teams. Parlow Cone played college football at the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill. She also has a lot of experience in coaching women’s soccer. She has also served as a USSF "A" License coach, and has attended FIFA Futuro III courses.

During her playing days, Parlow Cone was a four-time All-American who helped the Tar Heels to three national titles and four ACC regular-season titles. Parlow Cone won two Hermann Trophies (the highest honor in women's soccer collegiate soccer). She is also a member in the UNC women’s soccer hall of Fame.

First female president of U.S. Soccer

Cone has been US Soccer president since March, when the Athletes Board elected her to the position. As president, Cone has focused on improving diversity efforts, bringing commercial rights back in-house, and growing the sport in all forms. She has contributed to significant achievements in her two-year tenure as president, including an historic collective bargaining agreement between the US National Teams’ unions and equal wages for men's & women's soccer player.


Cone is a three times Olympian and was formerly a member of the senior U.S. National Team. She is also a National Soccer Hall of Fame inductee. She has led a significant shift in the priorities of the Federation as president. She has placed more emphasis on diversity, inclusiveness, and team-building.

Portland Thorns FC, NWSL champions, is headed by a coach

Portland Thorns FC, the current NWSL champions. After a two-year absence, the club is looking to bring Parlow back. The Thorns placed ninth in the league, but the new coach will have to meet high expectations and manage limited resources. He or she must create a championship team.

Before taking the Portland Thorns FC job, Cone was an assistant coach for the University of North Carolina for four years. Cone led the team to four NCAA championships. Then, as head coach of the Thorns, she won the NWSL championship in 2013. Cone, in addition to being a great coach, was also a member of the US national team's youth taskforce and Athletes' board. Cone was also inducted into this year's National Soccer Hall of Fame.

Parlow cone, a former soccer player, is now the face behind a campaign to make football safer for kids. The Olympic Gold medalist has had two concussions during her career. She experienced a constant headache, and she later quit the national team. Since then, she has been a soccer coach in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and has spoken out about her experience and the importance of safety in the game.

The campaign has been joined by concussion experts as well as former professional soccer players. The goal of the campaign is to reduce head-to–head collisions to prevent injuries in young soccer players. A Washington State study of junior-high girls found that a heading ban could help prevent as many as 30 percent of injury. This could prevent an estimated 100,000 concussions from youth soccer.
