USA has long supported female sports teams. Women athletes are making waves in sports, from Biney to Schmitt and Edwards to Vollmer. However, despite all these women's sports team victories, there are some female athletes that deserve special recognition. Let's look at some more noteworthy ones. Biney

Maame biney is an American speed skater in short track who won the bronze medal for the Women's Speed Track event at 2018 Winter Olympics. She participated in the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympics short track competition. Biney's astonishing performance has been a source of worldwide curiosity. Here are some things you should know about her. She is a true champion who is determined to win the world's best competition.

Schmitt

Allison Schmitt is one of the most decorated American female athletes. She was unable to compete in the 2012 Olympic Games and she struggled with depression after that. She was even able to fall into deep depression. She was unable to compete in the 2016 Olympic trials. Thankfully, her determination to return to the pool was rewarded and she has become a US Olympic swimming champion again.

Vollmer

Dana Whitney Vollmer has been a five time Olympic gold medalist. She was also the former world record holder in swimming. She set a world record in the event she won at the 2004 Summer Olympics. She was also awarded the Olympic bronze medal in the event and the bronze at the 2008 Summer Olympics. As a former college swimmer, Vollmer has been training for years in order to be a world-class athlete. Here are five reasons Vollmer deserves to be so great:


Joyner-Kersee

Jacqueline Joyner Kersee of the USA is a retired track & field athlete. She has won four Olympic silver medals, one bronze and two gold. She is the greatest long jumper in history and an outstanding heptathlete. Among her many accomplishments, she won the long jump Olympic title in 1984. Joyner Kersee won the 1996 silver medal in long jump.

Evans

Aja L. Evans, a bobsledder, is an Olympic medalist for Team USA. She is also a brakeman on bobsled. She was raised in Chicago where she was an All-American shotputter and a track-and-field City Champion. At the University of Illinois, Evans won a shot put title and was an All-American in track and field. She made her Olympic debut in 2012, when she joined the bobsled squad.

Voisin

Maggie Voisin, a U.S. Olympic athlete for women, is one of these athletes. After suffering a broken leg, Voisin missed the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics. She returned to competing at the 2018 Winter Olympics, but missed the podium after suffering a torn left ACL. Voisin has been out of competition for eight year due to her injury.

Retton

Retton served as a member in 2004 of the President’s Council on Physical Fitness and Sports. The organization was established by the U.S. to promote physical activity and encourage Americans all ages to engage in sport. The United States Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Public Health and Science has the council. Retton assisted in dropping the bill's sponsor, even though it was not made into law.
