ShopRite LPGA Classic - This is a professional tournament for women on the LPGA Tour. It takes place in Galloway (New Jersey), near Atlantic City. Brooke Henderson
Brooke Henderson topped the field of professional golfers in the Shoprite LPGA Classic on Sunday. The 25-year-old from Smiths Falls, Ont., shot a final round 64 to win the tournament. With a score of 64, she was able to reach the par-5 18th hole. She missed a tap-in putt and had no bogeys. Although the tournament was close before Henderson's 64 in the final round secured her 11th career title.
Julie Inkster
Julie Inkster was the winner of the 1986 ShopRite LPGA Classic. This tournament, now in 26th year, has been a fixture on the LPGA Tour. Only Anna Nordqvist or Lydia Lee have won back to back events since that year. Lee, who earned more than $11 million in career earnings, became the first multiple LPGA Tour champion. Lee is the second woman since In Gee Chun, to win back-2-to-1 major championships.
Julie Boutier
Boutier was ninth at ShopRite LPGA Classic and jumped in to the hunt for the Meijer LPGA Classic top spot. Boutier managed a six-under 205 in Chevron Championships. She broke her string of three consecutive 30s. Boutier also finished tied for 34th at the US Women's Open with a scoring average of 72.5. Unfortunately, Boutier couldn't make it to the KPMG Women's PGA Championship. For the third place finish, she earned just $98,215. For the next five years, her metrics will be impressive.
Mel Reid
Mel Reid is now the Shoprite LPGA Classic winner after losing a two shot lead at Portland Classic. Ryan Desveaux, a six-time LPGA Tour champion, was praised by Reid for his heroics in the final round. The victory will be Reid's first major title since she debuted on the LPGA Tour. She is a top seed at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship.
Albane Valenzuela
Having logged three consecutive rounds in the 60s and 70s to reach the final round of the ShopRite LPGA Classic, Albane Valenzuela is well on her way to a breakthrough finish. Valenzuela, a New Yorker, currently ranks 57th at the Race to CME Globe. Valenzuela has already made five cuts in this season. Despite her inconsistent play and enjoying Canada, Valenzuela, 24, is excited to be playing this weekend.
Lydia Ko
Lydia Ko, who placed in the top 25 at US Open after earning more than $600k, has now returned to contention at ShopRite LPGA Classic. She is six shots behind leaders after her first round of 72, but she's still alive with a two under 65. This week's event takes place at the Seaview Hotel Golf Club in Long Branch.
