The WNBA basketball season has started, and with over a quarter of the games off the calendar, we can now look at the WNBA stats. Standings aren't able to measure individual player performance but we can make predictions using historical data. You may be surprised at some numbers. Here are some of the most important stats from the WNBA.

Leslie was a player in the WNBA

Sabrina Ionescu became the first WNBA player ever to achieve a triple-double of 30-points

Ionescu made history last season by becoming the first player in WNBA to score 30 points while also registering a Triple-Double. Ionescu also became the first WNBA player with double-doubles in all three seasons. In the offseason, she rehabilitated her speed and strength in preparation for the 2022 season. She had an ankle injection before training camp started and felt ready for play. She was no longer a rookie, and she had yet to get to know her teammates or her new home.

Liberty leads with assists per game - Kelsey Plum

After a great season last season Kelsey Plum will lead the Liberty in assists per games this year. The 5-foot-8 guard has averaged 5.4 assists per game to lead the team. Her impressive stats are not surprising as she leads with 19.6 points per games. In fact, she is tied for the league lead in assists with Alyssa Thomas. Plum was the first player to appear in the WNBA All-Star Game. She earned MVP honors, and she set a new record with 12 threes.


Parker's history of injuries

DeVante Peterson, the 14th overall pick in the rookie season of the Miami Dolphins, became a wide receiver. After injuring himself during a practice, he was out for half of the season. Parker had to have surgery on his foot, and missed seven games. His history of injuries became a problem, particularly at the beginning his NFL career. Parker tore the scar tissue of his left leg after surgery. He missed three preseason game, including one in which he was injured.

Standings for the WNBA

It's never too early to start looking at the WNBA standings. Six teams are included in the playoffs that begin on August 17th. The Chicago Sky Aces and Las Vegas Aces already hold the first two seedings. There are still the Sun, Mystics and Dream who could be in the running for the fourth & fifth seeds. A number of other teams are also in the mix, including New York Liberty (Dallas Wings), Los Angeles Sparks (Sparks), and Dallas Wings (New York).

Ionescu's triple-double

Ionescu's triple double was a remarkable feat for the WNBA. In the 116-98 win over the Las Vegas Aces, Ionescu scored 31 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. She also had 10 assists. While her triple-double is impressive on its own, the fact that she didn't turn the ball over makes it even more incredible. Ionescu is first to record a WNBA triple-double, which is a significant achievement for the league.
