While there were rumors of expansion, no concrete plans have been made. It is unlikely that the league will expand this season. Real Salt Lake and Indy Eleven have both expressed interest in joining the league, as have three men's teams from California. Its players' association

The Players Association was a New York-based studio group. Chris Hills, Danny Weiss and the legendary fusion artist The Grateful Dead had worked together previously. Their debut album for Vanguard Records, 1977, was a huge success. Their sound was both raw, yet sophisticated. They emphasized the beauty and complexity of everyday life and the complexity of human nature. Their music was very influential, but their style wasn't without controversy.

Players Association was a part of the Ultimate Breakaway Weekend, which was held in support for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Olympic athletes, Lance Armstrong, and the United States Women's National Team all joined them at the Mandalay Bay Resort in Las Vegas, and musicians Sheryl Crow and Anthony LaPaglia joined the Players Association for an exhibition with area youth soccer players at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The Players Association held a benefit concert in support of the players, as well as the musicians.
