Pokey chatman has extensive coaching experience. He was most notable with the Chicago Sky, Indiana Fever. He also coached the Chicago Sky to the WNBA Finals in 2014. He has previously been an assistant coach with the Seattle Storm. Another coach with WNBA experience is Katie Smith, who was the head coach of the New York Liberty in 2018-19 and is currently an assistant coach for the Minnesota Lynx. Before joining the Dallas Wings, Chatman coached the Indiana Fever in the NBA.

Smith, Tina Thompson, will be inducted this year into the WNBA Hall of Fame. Smith is one the most prolific scorers of the league's history.
