
There are many examples of amazing athlete-couples that are making headlines. Amanda Nunes, Nina Ansaroff and Julie Ertz are all examples of great athlete couples. Bird and Rapinoe, Zach Ertz and Zach Ertz, Granato, Ferraro and many others are just some. There are even retired athletes who found love with one another.
Amanda Nunes & Nina Ansaroff
The two athletes have been in a relationship for over a decade, and their relationship is no secret. They met while working out at a Florida gymnasium in 2012. In August of last year, the couple announced their engagement, and the two have been engaged ever since. They are a prominent couple in the UFC, and have worked hard to support one another. Nunes has expressed gratitude to Ansaroff, saying she wouldn't have made it without her support.
Nina Ansaroff (UFC fighter) competes at strawweight. She was born in Weston, Florida, and started training as a mixed martial artist in 2009. She holds a record 16 wins and 6 losses. She is known for her comebacks. She currently ranks 13th in the women’s pound-for pound rankings.
Julie Ertz and Zach Ertz
Zach Ertz and Julie Ertz are both professional athletes. Zach is a tight end with the Philadelphia Eagles. Julie plays soccer for Chicago Red Stars. Both are currently vying in the U.S. women's national team. Both met while they were both attending Bay Area universities.
Zach Ertz married Julie Ertz in 2017. Their daughter was also born last week. The couple met while playing baseball at Stanford, and the couple married last March. Fans are celebrating the couple's marriage, which has been featured in the media since then.
Bird and Rapinoe
Sue Bird and Megan Rapinoe have been together as athletes. Both of them are based out of Seattle. Both are based in Seattle and often speak about different topics, including women's sport in America. Rapinoe posted photos of Bird to her Instagram Story along with a link that took viewers to a video of her cheering on. Rapinoe also posted an image of Bird’s Seattle Storm profile which lists her WNBA achievements.
Rapinoe and Bird met in the Olympic run-up to the 2016 Rio Olympics. Olympic athletes are often asked to pose in patriotic hot shots. Rapinoe, Bird and their photographer were about to start a shoot when they met. Rapinoe asked Bird for a secret. Bird was stumped. Rapinoe mentioned that Sue was not an "open book", which inspired Bird.
Granato, Ferraro
Ray Ferraro is one of the greatest sports stars ever. Ferraro played 18 NHL seasons and was a Stanley Cup Champion. Granato won the 1998 Olympic women’s hockey gold medal. Granato is now a retired professional hockey player. Granato and Ferraro have two daughters and are married.
Granato was captain of the 1998 U.S. women’s team ice hockey and was inducted to the Hockey Hall of Fame. Ferraro played 18 seasons in the National Hockey League and scored 40 goals twice. He ended his career with 408 assists, 490 goals and 898 points.
Graf and Agassi
Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi have been tennis's elite couple for many years. The couple met after both won the same tournament at Roland Garros in 1999. They started dating in 1999 and were married in 2001. Jaden and Jaz, their two children are now grown up. Graf's mother relocated to Las Vegas recently with the couple following Peter's death in 2013. Graf now uses Stefanie Graf.
Graf was a lover before they got married. He dated Michael Bartels for two year before finally getting married to Agassi. Agassi had a girlfriend named Brooke Shields before his 1997 wedding. Their romance was so public that Brooke Shields photographed Agassi prior to the wedding. She remarked that "the legs of this man are perfect." The couple split in 1998. However, they reconnected in 2001. Graf was playing in a tennis tournament when they met and the two of them practiced together. Graf and Agassi discovered that they shared many things, but also had their own differences.
