Women in sports media often have to walk a fine line and are often mocked for their looks. This is not the case for everyone. Linda Cohn from ESPN is one of the trailblazers. Cohn, who was first hired by ESPN in 1992 has become one of the network’s most versatile personalities.

Danica Patrick

Danica Patrick is an NASCAR race car driver who has been awarded numerous championships. She has been awarded multiple championships, and she was the sport’s most popular driver many times. Danica is also an avid fitness enthusiast and philanthropist. Danica's sexy personality, fit body and devoted fan base have made her a favorite.

Patrick started her career in kart driving, but she soon moved into racing. In 2005, she was the youngest person in history to win Indianapolis 500. Today, she is still the only female driver that has won IndyCar Series. She still breaks female sports records to this day.

Lindsey Vonn

Lindsey Vonn was a well-known skier as well as a world-class competitor. She is among the most decorated women in the history the sport. She has won many international titles, including the Downhill World Championships, three consecutive world championships, and the overall World Cup Championship. She is also a role model for women in sports.

Lindsey Vonn was raised in Minnesota, and started skiing at an early age. At the age of seven, she began competing in races and later made it to international competitions. She competed in World Junior Championships and World Cup events, and became a World Cup champion in 2004. Vonn was awarded the overall World Cup title in 2008, and again in 2010.

Michelle Kwan

Michelle Kwan's interest in figure skating began at a young age. At the age of five, she followed her older sister on the ice and fell in love with it. Danny and Estella Kwan, her parents, were immigrants from Hong Kong, China. The Kwans were reunited at a school graduation. Her father worked at the telephone company, while her mother managed the Golden Pheasant Restaurant in Torrance. When Michelle was eight years old, she began serious training. She would work for three to four hours a day. However, her time commitment was so significant that her family had to struggle to pay.


Kwan hired Rafael Arutyunyan in 2003 as her coach. The pair skated to "The Feeling Begins" for the short program and "Tosca" for the long program. Kwan tied Maribel Vison-Owen’s record with nine titles for U.S. female figure skating. Kwan qualified the next year for the Olympic Games at Turin, Italy. There, she was judged differently. Kwan lost to a triple salchow, and two-footed with a triple lutz at the World Championships.

Cari Champion

Cari Champion is a well-known broadcast journalist in the sports world. She anchors ESPN's noon edition and hosts the Be Honest With Cari Champion podcast. She has extensive experience in broadcast journalism and sports knowledge. In fact, she will speak on the 2019 program track, Pushing the Limits of Human Performance.

Cari Champion was born and raised in Pasadena. She attended UCLA. She has one older sister, and two younger siblings. She has never been married, and she is not in a relationship with anyone.

Li Na

Li Na is a well-known Chinese tennis player. As the daughter of an Olympic athlete, her dreams were thwarted by political strife, she rose from humble beginnings. Now, she is one of the world's best tennis players and one of the richest women. Her Chinese compatriots were not able to see her play until her rise in fame.

She has been praised for her self-confidence and for her ability to inspire young Chinese. Her work goes beyond sports. Li Na is also a prominent cultural entrepreneur, and her influence extends beyond sports.
