Mazdzer is American man who has won a medal in a single luge
Alex Mazdzer won a silver medal in PyeongChang, which is the highest finish ever for an American man in single luge at an Olympic Games. Mazdzer was not expected to win a medal in PyeongChang, but his performance matched the best finish in USA Luge's history. Although he was not the favorite this year he is confident that his four runs in PyeongChang will be clean. Mazdzer relied on the mental side of his brain to win medals for four years.
Shiffrin is the top female slalom skier
Despite being young and performing poorly in the Super-G competition, Mikaela shiffrin is already a well-known name in the sport. In the opening round against Slovakia, Shiffrin took the top spot and completed her first slalom run. She fell just short of the podium in her next two races against Germany and Italy, as well as Norway. She completed all three races and was congratulated by her teammates. She became the second Olympic debutant to compete in all six Alpine events. This feat was shared with Petra Vlhova from the Czech Republic in 2018.
Since 2011, Chock & Bates have competed together
